Tom Murray Obituary

Tom Murray, 76, of Kensington, CT, passed away Monday, August 10, 2020, surrounded by loved ones after a prolonged battle with cancer.  He was the son of the late Francis and Rose (Horan) Murray and the beloved husband of Mary Clare (Thibodeau) Murray.   He was born and raised a Connecticut Yankee, graduated from Granby Memorial High School in 1963. He went on to study tool design at Porter School of Design and then joined the United States Air Force where he trained as a Nuclear Technician. During his 25 years in the Air Force, he served at Loring AFB in Maine, was Master Sergeant in charge of training at Otis AFB where he specialized in F106 Fighter jets. In retirement he brought his skills and experience to bear as a job recruiter as well as a contractor for several companies in the Defense Industry including Pratt & Whitney and Sikorsky Helicopters as a project manager developing maintenance manuals for key aircraft.  Most recently he leant his knowledge of aircraft to the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks as a volunteer tour guide. Tom was an avid golfer and classic car buff, a natural musician on Piano and Guitar. He loved Classic Car Shows and had a life-long love affair with the 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1. 

He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandpa, and was always a gentleman.  Besides his wife, he leaves a son: Thomas F. Murray, two daughters: Kim Murray and Kelly Collins a sister:  Judith Czuba, a brother:  Leonard F. Murray a grandson: Jakob Collins and granddaughter: Kayla Erie.   Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by a grandson:  Jon Cabral.  His steady loving presence will be sorely missed by his family and all who knew him.

Friends and family may call at the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home 96 Main St., Kensington from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul Church, 485 Alling St., Kensington.  (Masks are required).
