Joan Siering Obituary

Joan F (Cyr) Siering, 87, of Kensington, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday March 21, 2021.

Joan was born on April 26, 1933, in Fort Kent, Maine.  After moving to Connecticut, Joan graduated from New Britain High School in 1952. In October,1953, she married Peter R. Siering at the Burritt Hotel in New Britain. The couple then moved to Crater Lane in Kensington in January,1958, where they lived happily until Peter’s death in October 2016.

Joan retired from Fafnir Bearing as a Stamper Inspector after 34 years and was a devoted member of St. Paul Church in Kensington. Joan was a social butterfly of the community, always out and about, and frequently would spend her days visiting friends and family, helping people in need, or going out for a bite to socialize. She was an avid gardener of many indoor and outdoor plants, and she also loved caring for stray cats that seemed to migrate to her back door.  Joan enjoyed putting puzzles together, and once assembled, she would frame her “masterpieces” and then give them as gifts to friends and family.  Many businesses around town have Joan’s framed puzzles on display, as a sentiment of their friendship over the years.

Joan is survived by her brother Joseph Rey Cyr of Austin, Texas and several Cousins, Nieces, & Nephews, as well as, many, many very near and dear friends.  Joan is predeceased by a brother; Richard Cyr and sister; Doris Zilko.

The family is deeply indebted to all the caregivers, who gave her dignity to her life, some normalcy to her condition, which was anything but normal and showered her with their loving care that gave meaning to her life, over the past 6 months.  A sincere THANKS to the “Aunt Joan’s Team of Devoted Caregivers”, which enabled her to remain in her home, under the watchful eyes of private caregivers: Nancy V, Debbie F, Vilma C, Susie P and Maureen S.  Father Mike from St. Paul Church who would visit her often and always was able to put a smile on Joan’s face when he came to visit, and the Berlin VNA Team: Dorothy, Beth, Leo and the Hospice Team from Constellation: Petra, Elena, Miguel and Craig. ~

THANK YOU to all.
