It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donald on March 3,2023 surrounded by his family at Touchpoints in Farmington after he lost his courageous long battle with dementia at the age of 93. He is finally at peace and enjoying a reunion with his beautiful bride June and all of his other angels, sons Scott and Todd. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was the son of William C. and Mabel Norton born in Kensington June 25,1929. He was employed at Pratt and Whitney United Technologies research laboratory for many years. He took pride in testing airplane and helicopter engines. He was a Corporal and Veteran of the Korean War in the Army 13th Helicopter division in Oklahoma. In my mother’s words he was “a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, serviceman, head of his home and leader of his family. Always an animal lover especially horses, proud of his Swedish heritage but most of all just plain Dad”. He was a very creative person and was a jack of all trades who could fix just about anything with his hands. He was always a very happy go lucky guy even to the end, he would always say “Tack sa mycket” Thank you in Swedish. He was very proud of the Norton Spring Water Co and of his grandfather who built many landmarks in Berlin like Hungerford’s Stables. He leaves his daughter Sherry Lynn (Anthony) Daddabbo of Plainville, his daughter in law Geri Norton of Bristol, his Grandchildren, Kristin(Matthew)Ficaro, Kerry(Lowell)Barger, Meghan(Dan)Sattler, Ryan(Katie)Norton, and Jessica(Jake)Doolittle. He leaves his four Great Grandchildren, Trey, Vincenzo, Nico, and Summer. He leaves several nieces and nephews, and his special neighbors Hugh McCaig and Peter and Carmel Bennett. He was predeceased by his beloved sons Scott and Todd Norton and his brother Harold and sisters Lois and Marion. We will love and miss you forever Dad and Poppa Don now you can be our guardian Angel with Mom. Friends and Family are invited to call at Berlin Memorial Funeral Home 96 Main St. Kensington, on Wed. March 8th, 2023, from 10:00-11:00 am. Burial with Military honors will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery New Britain.
