Ann M Mattioli

Ann Marie Mattioli, of Kensington, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024, at the age of 78 after a long illness.

Ann was born in Winchester, Massachusetts on September 16, 1945 to Matilda “Tilda” (Tura) and Harold P. Mattioli. She graduated from Algonquin Regional High School in 1963 and soon after moved with her family to Simsbury, Connecticut. She returned to Massachusetts to attend school at Lasell Junior College, graduating in 1965, and then Russell Sage College, where she graduated with a degree in Sociology in 1967. Ann enjoyed a career helping others as a social worker for the State of Connecticut Department of Social Services until her retirement in 2000.

Ann was predeceased by her loving husband Frank Dobeck Jr. of Kensington who passed away in 2005. After her husband’s death, Ann became active in local politics, taking her husband’s place on the Berlin Republican Town Committee and for several years served as Treasurer of the Committee. A strong advocate and volunteer for Berlin, Ann also served on other town commissions including the Charter Revision Commission in 2007 and was a member of the Kensington Garden Club. She leaves behind a brother, Peter Mattioli of Canton, Massachusetts, along with her cousins, Priscilla Mariani of Dennis Port, Massachusetts, Paul Manning of Quincy, Massachusetts, and Linda Corcoran of Plymouth, Massachusetts. Over the years, Ann enjoyed traveling, including many trips to Europe and cruises to the Bahamas and the Caribbean. She always remembered her family and friends by sending them postcards and informing them about all her adventures. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, watercolor painting, bird watching, and loving her cats. Family and friends are invited to calling hours at Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Kensington, Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.  A Prayer Service will be held in the funeral home at 11:30 a.m.  Interment will follow in Simsbury Center Cemetery, Simsbury, CT. www.BerlinMemorialFuneralHome.com
