Clara (Dyer) Charest, a life long resident of East Berlin, died peacefully Friday, March 1, 2019 at her home.
She is survived by her son Wayne Charest from East Berlin, stepdaughter Brenda Hebert from Southington, grandson Samuel Charest from Bridgeport, granddaughter Kelsey Charest from Wallingford, brother Richard Dyer from New Hartford, sister Patricia Dickinson and her husband Charlie of Cromwell, nieces, nephews, 4 step grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many extended family members. She is predeceased by her husband Leo Charest Sr., her son Leo Charest Jr. and her brothers Floyd and Lindy Dyer.
“Betty” as she liked to be called by everyone, had the love for camping and square dancing with her husband Leo until his passing.
She was a Red Hatter for many years where she enjoyed spending time with all the other red hatter ladies. She retired from Kaman Aerospace after 30 years in 2002. She was long time member of The United Methodist Church and attended Sunday services dedicatedly, whenever her health allowed.
In her last years of life, Betty was well cared for by her caregiver, Evelyn Kasso, of New Britain. Her care for Betty is much appreciated by Betty’s family.
A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Kensington, followed by a service 11:30 A.M. at The United Methodist Church in East Berlin. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Rocky Hill.
