Muriel ‘Mimi’ Zabek, 71, of Berlin, died suddenly at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain Campus on Monday, March 21, 2016.  She was the wife Thomas E. Zabek.

Born in New York City on April 25, 1944, Mimi and her family moved to West Falmouth, MA at an early age where she resided until attending North Adams State College.  Mimi was employed by the State of Connecticut as a social worker/teacher in the Dept. of Developmental Services  for more than 20 years.  For many years she was also a realtor at Realty 3 Carroll & Agostini in Berlin.

Mimi enjoyed spending time with her 2 grandsons, Jonavon & Caden, with whom she had a very special bond.

 Besides her husband of 46 years, Tom, Mimi is survived by a daughter:  Laura L. Zabek of Cromwell,  2 grandsons:  Jonavon Zabek and Caden DiYulio of Cromwell, a brother in law: John Zabek and his wife MaryLou of South Deerfield, MA,a cousin Donna Kasabula of Easthampton, MA, 2 nieces and 1 nephew, and countless cherished friends.  Mimi was pre-deceased by a sister:  Elaine Zemanovic.

Friends and family may call at the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Kensington, on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
