Fannie Rose (Scagliotti) Legnani

May 7, 1916 ~ April 1, 2016 (age 99) 99 Years Old


Fannie Rose (Scagliotti) Legnani, a lifelong resident of Berlin and widow of Louis J. Legnani died peacefully on Friday, April 1, 2016 with her daughter by her side.  Fannie died 36 days before her 100th birthday and on her late husband’s birthday. 

Fannie was born May 7, 1916, the daughter of the late Carlo and Carolina (Farina) Scagliotti.   Fannie worked at Landers and Royal Typewriter in her younger years.

Fannie was a parishioner of St. Paul Church and a member of the Luna Social Club and enjoyed many weekends with her friends and family dancing to her husband’s music.

Fannie is survived and loved dearly by her daughter, Lorraine Legnani with whom she made her home, a sister Ida Magnoli Peterson, several generations of cherished nieces and nephews, including her goddaughter Caroline Schwartzmann, godson Frank Magnoli and great-nephew Peter Calcaterra.  She is also survived by good friends Sophie Colamussi, Doris Daigle, Tony Natale and her precious poodle, Gypsy, who was her constant companion.

Fannie was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Louis Legnani, her sisters, Theresa Calcaterra, Mary Revelli and Irene Scagliotti and many good friend s and neighbors.   

Fannie lived a long, happy, healthy life; her kind and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.  She loved to cook.  Her famous antipasto was the start of every holiday meal. 

She was a woman of great strength and determination and lived life with a loving and positive attitude.

Fannie’s daughter would like to thank Fannie’s doctors – Dr. Katarzyna Wadolowski and Dr. Jan Paris for their kind and compassionate care and the staff of the Hospital of Central Connecticut ICU, the Berlin VNA and her healthcare aid and friend Nicole Poirier.

Friends and family may call at the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Kensington on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, from 4:00  – 7:00 P.M.

 Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at 9:00 A.M. from the funeral home, and at 10:00 A.M. at St. Paul Church for a Mass of Christian Burial.  Internment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Britain.

Donations can be made to the Berlin VNA or St. Paul Church in Kensington.
